Commissioning Manager – Data Center Construction
About the Role
This role sits within a leading construction organization delivering large-scale, mission-critical data center projects across the U.S. The Commissioning Manager will act as the primary construction-side lead for commissioning, coordinating and managing the work of third-party commissioning agents to ensure systems are delivered in line with project requirements, schedule, and quality expectations.
The position serves as the interface between construction, commissioning, design, and owner teams, ensuring commissioning activities are integrated effectively into the overall construction program and turnover process.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as the construction team’s lead point of contact for all commissioning-related activities across assigned data center projects.

Manage and coordinate third-party commissioning agents to ensure commissioning scope, schedule, and deliverables align with the construction program.

Integrate commissioning activities into construction sequencing, milestone planning, and turnover schedules.

Review commissioning plans, schedules, and documentation to confirm alignment with project requirements and construction readiness.

Facilitate coordination between MEP trades, vendors, commissioning agents, and owner representatives.

Track commissioning progress, identify risks or conflicts with construction activities, and support resolution to maintain schedule.

Support issue resolution, deficiency management, and readiness for functional and integrated systems testing.

Participate in commissioning and turnover meetings, ensuring clear communication across all stakeholders.

Support lessons learned and continuous improvement across commissioning execution on future projects.
Qualifications & Experience

7+ years of experience supporting or managing commissioning activities on mission-critical construction projects, preferably data centers.

Strong understanding of data center electrical and mechanical systems, including UPS, switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling systems, BMS, and EPMS.

Demonstrated experience working with and managing third-party commissioning agents and specialty consultants.

Strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills within fast-paced construction environments.

Ability to travel regionally to support active construction sites.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred.
